A Little Setback...

Hi there followers.

Browsing some blogs the last few days I noticed there were some changes. Some disclosure changes. Apparently the FTC has decided that bloggers need to do more than they are already doing regarding disclosing where materials have come from.

What does this mean for me?

Well it means that I need to overhaul my site a little bit. I need to make a full disclosure page and some little disclosure buttons that link to that page so I am complying with all the guidelines. Until that is all done I won't be posting here. Hopefully I will be able to have it back up for my big Wicked Polish post tonight, but because of a full work schedule I cannot promise that.

Thank you for sticking with me while my posting is a bit sporadic since I started. There is a lot more time involved in a full blog than I realized and there is most definitely a learning curve. I am positive that I will figure it out though and that someday I'll be able to say that I have regular posts 2-3 times a week.

Again, I hope to still have my Wicked Polish post up tonight, but I am not promising anything quite yet. Thanks for your patience!

xoxo

  1. Sorry to hear about that. A disclosure page is not too difficult, there's a website that makes a disclosure policy for you: disclosurepolicy (dot) org. Most bloggers have used this website from what I can tell. You can check out my disclosure page if you're interested.

As for the new FTC guidelines, I don't think you need to implement it right away. Also I don't think it's as complicated as some bloggers are making it out to be. Perhaps if you have affiliate links and all that stuff, but not for smaller blogs. I saw Sarah at Samarium's Swatches had changed things, but basically she just put a disclosure at the beginning of the post. No buttons or special whatnots.

    1. Yeah, I just want to make sure I am covering all my bases. Last thing I need is to get in trouble or sued for something stupid like a disclosure being wrong. I've got a few sites I'm using to beef up my disclosure policy and I seem to have figured out the buttons pretty quickly. It has unfortunately cut into my photo editing time. :(

  2. I was thinking of starting a blog. Now this has caused me some fear. Why would you need a disclosure policy to show nail polish swatches?

    1. It isn't really anything to fear. I receive polish for free from companies and suppliers to swatch and review. I have to disclose that I receive those products for free in order to support and follow the blogger guidelines.
