The Nail Art Guild | The Sea

Purchased By Me

Hi loves!

I have a special treat for you today. You see, some friends and I have formed a new nail art group called The Nail Art Guild.

We are going to be posting themed manicures and nail art every other Friday starting today! After we post for that week we will post the new theme for the next and so on and so forth. Anyone can join in on the fun, we're already had quite a few people join in on posting for our first theme, The Sea.

This theme was chosen by one of our members, Kiki who is @polishmad on Instagram. (If you have Instagram, do yourself a favor and go follow her, trust me.) You can also check out my Instagram and the one for The Guild at @stormandstars and @thenailartguild for more info and I'll be reposting some of my favorite nail arts each week.

For this theme I wanted to do something a little abstract and make my nails look almost like the sea itself. The inspiration for this technique was some rainbow and watermarbled nails I did way back when. What do you think?

I absolutely love how they came out! They look like swirling waters. <3

I started with a base of a minty green lacquer and then randomly pulled different shades of blue and used a brush to apply them. I used some acetone to thin out the polish and blend them together in a sort of water color effect on my nail. I really couldn't tell you all the colors I used, just about 5 or 6 that looked good together and fit the theme.

After that dried. (I cheated and used fast dry topcoat and then waited an entire day since I fell asleep haha.) I watermarbled over the base using a clear topcoat and Revlon Royal. I love love love love the effect it gave!

You know I couldn't leave you without any sea themed photos right? Here is my Octopus, Ollie with my new sea themed nails.

Check out my Instagram @stormandstars for more photos and the names of the other participants as well as @thenailartguild for more photos and to keep up to date on the themes!

What do you all think? Would you like to participate? If people are interested I can start posting the themes here in advance so everyone can join in.

Have a lovely evening!

xoxo

Lex

  1. Storm, your water marbling mani is just beautiful! The colors you chose certainly fit the theme. Wish I could do as perfect of a job (I know it takes practice!). Thanks for your always-inspiring photos!
