Born Pretty Store | Gunmetal Spikes

I am so so happy with the nail art I have for you today!

This post has been a long time coming. I have wanted spikes to do a manicure for so long, but then when I finally got them in the mail I had NO IDEAS! I really didn't know how to use them in a manicure! So I've been thinking for a while and I finally came up with a design that I think worked out really well.

The spikes that I used for this nail art are from Born Pretty Store and are much smaller than any that I've seen before. I really love how small they are cause they seem more practical for a manicure that way... well... as practical as spikes on your nails can be! haha!

How about we see some photos?

EEEEEEK! I love them more every time I see them!

I started with a base of the absolutely gorgeous Dior Marilyn, a red jelly with such a subtle silver shimmer that you almost don't know its there.

On my pinkie, I added two coats of Colors by Llarowe Mighty Red Baron, which was kindly shared with me by the lovely and generous Donna from Sweet Baby by Donna. <3 Thanks girl!

For my index and middle fingers I used straight Nail Vinyls to make the shape and then painted on with Color Club Beyond before removing the vinyls.

For my ring finger and thumb, I used the same Nail Vinyls and made a striped pattern using Color Club Beyond again.

After everything was mostly dry, I added a thick coat of topcoat. Once the topcoat was dry, I used tweezers to pick up the tiny spikes from Born Pretty Store and placed them on my ring finger and thumb along one of the stripes, using topcoat to make them stick. (For a more permanent bond, please use nail glue to attach the spikes!)

I really really love this manicure and these spikes are just what I needed to push the mani into that more edgy look I wanted.

What do you think? Have you ever used spikes in a manicure? Would you?

These tiny spikes are 2mm at the base and come in a package of  100 for $4.33. You can purchase these spikes and other nail art supplies at Born Pretty Store. They have a huge selection and are always free shipping worldwide!

  1. I love how you used these! I've been nursing some spikes in my nail art stash for a little while, but not yet used them. I'm too worried about putting an eye out x_O
