Stardust Polish - Super Glitters!

Hi All! I have another long time coming review for you all today. This one is for some super glittery shades from Stardust Polish. I did a review here for a lacquer from Stardust called Retro Ruby, and these are along the same lines.

I'm going to warn you ahead of time, because it took me so long to swatch and review these, most, if not all of them may not be available any longer. I still want to show them to you, be cause Drema makes some gorgeous polish and if you love these I'm sure you can find something else in her shop that strikes your fancy!

I have 7 shades to show you today and this post is super image heavy, so get ready! These all had a great formula and tried to a matte texture, but I seriously suggest putting topcoat over them to really make them sparkle and shine. I used two coats of topcoat for all of these swatches except Back Seat Bingo, which I used one coat for.

First up is a stunning deep magenta lacquer. This one is Ginned Up.

Ahh! So gorgeous! I love this color so so much. And the sparkles? WOW!

Ginned up is a deep purple toned jelly base with tons and tons of shimmer and micro glitter. It just glows with sparkle.

Can you see how much this glitters in the light?! I used two coats of Ginned up over one coat of Cult Nails Vicious for this look. I added two coats of topcoat to smooth it out and make it shine.

Next up is the only multicolored glitter in this bunch. This is Glitterati.

Ooooh Ahhhh... Isn't she lovely?

You'll definitely feel expensive wearing this stunning shade. Glitterati is a clear base loaded with multicolored micro glitter so thick that it is almost opaque in two coats.

For these shots I used two coats of Glitterati over one coat of OPI Vant To Bite My Neck? I added two thick coats of topcoat to really smooth out the glitters and make the manicure look like glass.

Here we have the only green in this lineup. This is In Cahoots!

In Cahoots is a very sheer green base with lots of green micro glitter. I strongly suggest undies for this glitter.

I used two coats of In Cahoots over my favorite green, Illamasqua Rampage. I added a couple coats of topcoat and I was shiny and ready for my close-up!

I love this next deep red lacquer. This is Classy Chassis.

How gorgeous is this baby?!

Classy Chassis is a deep red/burgundy jelly stuffed with shimmer and micro glitter.

I layered two coats of Classy Chassis over Orly Grave Mistake for this look. I added two coats of topcoat to smooth out the glitters and really make it look the best it can. Most of these shades can be layered alone for a more jelly like finish, but I liked how they look over the bases, so I went with that.

Up next is this gorgeously bright shade, The Cat's Meow!

Meeeeeooooowwwww!

I love this so much. The Cat's Meow is a super bright purple jelly loaded up with lots and lots of micro glitter.

I layered three coats of this lacquer by itself for these photos. You can see that there are some places that you can see nail through the lacquer. I don't really mind this, but if you do, make sure you use a similar colored undie instead of doing 3 coats alone. I added two coats of topcoat to bring out the shimmer and smooth it all down.

Another favorite from this collection is the uber sexy Razz My Berries.

Yum yum! Razz My Berries is a berry pink jelly base stuffed to overflowing with micro glitter and shimmer. And it is absolutely stunning.

I used two coats of Razz My Berries over one coat of Illamasqua Vice for these images. I added two coats of topcoat for that glass look.

Last, but most certainly not least is my favorite shade from this bunch. This blue baby is Back Seat Bingo.

I can't stand how beautiful this polish is. It is easily my favorite of these super glitters. The blue jelly base is so beautiful and deep that the micro glitters just glow from within it.

This is the one swatch that I only did one coat of topcoat with and you can tell. One more coat and it would have that same glassy look the others do. I think I was just so excited that I didn't wait for a second coat haha.

For these swatches I started with L'Oreal After Hours for undies and then layered two coats of Back Seat Bingo over the top. I finished with a single coat of shiny topcoat.

So what do you think of these micro glitter jelly hybrids from Stardust Polish? I know I love them!

  2. Your shop links are incorrect. They are now on Etsy instead of storenvy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/stardustpolish

  3. I am so bummed that Razz My Berries, Ginned Up and Classy Chassis are no longer available at https://www.etsy.com/shop/stardustpolish. I did go through the other polishes she's currently offering and didn't find even one I liked as much as I loved the three I mention above.

I've never heard of this brand before. The owner/creator has a message on her shop's website that she won't be restocking what seems to be the majority of the polishes she creates. That's sad. While I understand her reasoning, it seems a shame that a brand that looks like it's building a good reputation has made the decision to limit growth by not restocking popular colors unless she determines they will be core colors. She does offer a newsletter which allows subscribers to purchase colors in advance before they're offered on the store's site (though once they are on the store's site, there will be only 16-32 bottles available). While I think she's come up with a novel way to make sure customers can buy a polish, it comes at the "price" of having yet one more email come in that requires immediate attention to determine if there's an available polish the subscriber wants to buy. I'm one of, I'm sure, thousands of people who are motivated to buy a polish by seeing the kind of beautiful pictures you have in this post. I doubt a newsletter would strike the same "I must have that" chord as posts like this one does. I recognize this post was unavoidably late but I'm not sure it would make a difference even if the post has been more timely. If she sends polishes out for bloggers to review, she should offer more than 16-32 bottles of those polishes for sale in the shop. One blogger's review alone could cause her to sell out of some of the new polishes and then there's a lot of disappointed people who can't get what these pretty pictures offer. My two cents.

    1. I agree that it is sad the polishes are now unavailable, however, when I received them for review they were. If I had gotten this post up in time, there would have been polish to order.

As for Drema's new policies, she was originally going to close the doors to her shop altogether, but at the persistence of her fans she decided on this new model as it is the only way she can keep her shop open and still have time to be a new mom. I'm pretty sure spending enough time and energy on her son is more important than selling more than 16-32 bottles of a nail polish.

As a small business owner myself, I know how much time and energy goes into creating a brand. I don't have any children, but I do have a full time job and this blog in addition to my home business. While I appreciate that having enough stock for everyone who wants to purchase is ideal, it is almost an impossible feat without chancing that some things won't sell and then you will lose money. Not to mention that most people simply do not have time to make every item all the time.

Even large retailers have core lines and then seasonal items. OPI, Essie, Orly etc... do not "restock" colors over and over unless they are part of the core line. They have the core and then they release seasonal collections based on current trends and favorite colors. Very few of those seasonal colors become part of the core line, while others become discontinued after the first run. The same is true for clothing and other large retailer items.

This trend of small businesses constantly restocking every collection they release is not how most retailers do business. I applaud Drema and Stardust Polish for putting her foot down and putting herself and her family first, while still offering new and interesting colors in her business.

    2. Hi...I appreciate your being defensive on Drema's behalf. It's wonderful she has you, and I'm sure many more people, as strong supporters.

As I said in my comments, I had never heard of this polish line before. I tried hard to make it clear I was only speaking from my point of view (“my two cents”), which is valid, as a disappointed consumer.

Like both you and Drema, I am an entrepreneur (web site work, in my case) and I agree it's darned hard to balance everything. I agree with you that family comes before business. On Drema’s store site, she writes she’s trying “to keep a good balance between work/family/sanity.” However, without you saying so, I would have been unaware Drema has a new baby, or had originally planned on closing her shop altogether. She doesn’t mention it on her site.

I think entrepreneurs start their businesses with the goal of continual growth and success. In Drema's case, she's had great "luck" (translation: hard work) in apparently finding a niche of devoted fans. It's a terrific base to work from to grow even more.

It does seem Drema (a beautiful name, BTW) still wants to grow her business as she wrote about more polish lines to come. She also wrote, "Cuticle oil will be added to my store in the near future in multiple scents and in polish bottle, rollerball bottle & pen form. I may add more bath/body products in the future..." Bringing in more product lines is another indication of growth.

Being a new user to her site I, like any of, hopefully, hundreds/thousands of more new users, can only know the direction of her business from the information she provides there. According to the message on her site, she will not be restocking most polishes, unless she decides they should be made core. The reasoning she gives for this is to use supplies she has but hasn’t yet used and to have time to be more creative. I said in my original comments that I understood her reasoning. She’s an artist and wants more time to make beautiful polish. I also applaud her making limited edition polishes whose proceeds go to charity.

It seems she's weighed her options and decided this is the best way to proceed. I wish her tons of "luck." I have added her etsy site to my bookmarks and will likely sign up for her newsletter. The reason I'll sign up to get her newsletter, however, is due to seeing how gorgeous some of the previous polishes she created are thanks to your post. Have a good day!

  4. Those shades are amazing! I love the depth of jellies, and the names are pretty spot on (chassis truly reminds me of those low-rider glitter paint jobs on the cars of my youth). Thanks for introducing me to this brand!
