Black Lace Nail Art

I have a kind of combo review and nail art for you today. I've had this design in my head for absolutely ages, but I wasn't proficient enough in nail stamping to pull it off until recently. The idea is a black lace look on nude nails. I used a lot of different items I've gotten recently in this nail art and I can't wait to share with you how I achieved the look.

I started with a good base coat and then added 2-3 coats of Jolie Polish Black Sheer (or Black Crelly). Black Sheer is exactly what it sounds like. A super sheer black jelly lacquer that is perfect for layering. This lacquer had the same quality I've come to love from all the Jolie Polish jellies and crellies. It was smooth and didn't streak or drag like lots of other jelly lacquers. It built up beautifully an didn't seem thick on the nail even at three coats.

I added a coat of fast dry top coat and waited for them to mostly dry before moving on to stamping. I used this absolutely lovely Born Pretty Store nail stamping plate BP-02 to stamp on the lower right pattern in this photo.

I used Cult Nails Nevermore for my stamping and my new Creative Shop stamper. The only part of the design that didn't transfer were the tiny crackly lines in the background and I'm really not sure if it was the plate, my technique or the stamper, but I was perfectly happy with how they turned out anyway.

I absolutely love how these came out and I can see wearing them to so many late night or fancy events. I'm seriously considering doing them in a different color for my brother's wedding. Their colors are navy and ivory and I can see either one working out really well.

Of course, I couldn't do a look like this and not add a matte topcoat. So I added one coat of OPI's matte topcoat to finish off the look.

I really can't say whether I prefer the shiny or matte look. They're so different looking and I love them both in so many ways.
